The Computerized Wrestling Program (CWP) developed in 1984 was designed to print on parallel printers directly connected to the LPT1: printer port of the computer. While technology evolved to computers and printers that are USB or network enabled, CWP users were limited to older computers with parallel printer ports and HP/DOS/PCL6 compatible printers.  In October 2009 everything changed!  CWP programs now run in most Windows environments (including Vista and Windows 7) and print to any Windows printer (USB, Network, wireless, or LPT1:)!

The original CWP proggram was as DOS based program but ran with no problin in Windows until the advent of the newer 64-bit windows operating systems.    The 64-bit operating system was designed for faster processing tasks and the developers did not build in any support of older programs that ran in 32-bit environment on Windows 3.1, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.   There are two solutions ava

  1. Microsoft developers has a free XP Mode download available from the Microsoft Knowledge base.  It runs inside of the 64-bit systems and allows all programs that ran on the 32-bit systems to run on the newer 64-bit machines.
    • The only problem is that the add-on only runs on the higher end Windows 7 systems (Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate)
    • Most of the computers sold today use Windows Home Premium which does not support the XP Mode add-in.
    • Solution: Purchase an upgrade the of the operating system to one of the above versions of Windows.
  2. Install a shareware add-on to run DOS Programs in a Windows 64-bit environment.
    • DOSBox appears to be a viable solution.  If you download and use it, you might send a donation to the DOSBox developers.   www.dosbox.com
    • The original DOSBox programs captured printer out to files but did not capture output to the LPT1: parallel printer ports.
    • DOSBox and Printfil have developed a special build of DOSBox that is recognizedautomatically in the Printfil configuration.
    • DOSBox Megabuild6 Download is the version required to interface with Printfil!

Downlaod and Installation of DOSBox

  1. The download and install is "almost" automatic.  Click the DOSBox Megabuild6 Download and accept the defaults.
  2. After the program is installed, click the DOSBox Megabuild6 icon to start the program.
  3. After it loads, type the instructions below:the Z:\SET BLASTER=A20 I7 D1 H5 T6 after the Z:\  type mount c c:\{program} and hit [Enter]

DOSBox.JPG (72683 bytes)

  1. Note sample8 is the program folder with the CWP program.  Replace sample8 with the {filepath} to the program you are using!
