Sunday, February 20

* Barring unforeseen difficulties, pairings and participant information will be posted by 10:00 AM.

Friday, February 25

Check-in - 1:00 PM

Please check in at the head table/computer with Ken Baumgartner upon arrival:
Review records listed and make corrections as needed.
Please check all names, spelling, and records listed on the sign-in sheet. Data will update automatically all the way through to the State Tournament for those wrestlers that qualify!

Weigh-in – 2:00 p.m. (Weigh-ins end after the 285 lbs. class finishes.)

3 scales will be used for weighing in contestants. Scales will be open to check weights from 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.

All wrestlers shall be present and remain in the designated weigh-in area!
Weigh-in by weight class. The weigh-in shall proceed through weight classes beginning at 103 lbs. and end immediately upon completion of the 285 lbs. class. A contestant may step on and off the first scale two times. If he fails to make weight on the first scale, he shall immediately step on each available scale one time in an attempt to make weight!
Officials will check contestants for grooming and skin condition before weighing in. A contestant cannot weigh in until he has passed grooming and skin condition check. Any physician’s notes/releases must be available for officials at weigh in.

Coach's Meeting – 3:30 p.m.

Session 1 – 4:00 p.m. – Championship rounds 1 and 2 and Consolation round 1.

Weigh-in for Saturday - will begin after the 145 lb matches of Consolation round 1 and will end ½ hour after the final match ends. Competitors cannot weigh in for Saturday until they have wrestled their final Friday match.

Saturday, February 26

Weigh-in – 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.

Session 2 – 10:00 a.m. – Consolation round 2.

Championship semi-finals and Consolation round 3 will run together.
Consolation semi-finals.

Coaches’ Meeting – 4:30 p.m.

Session 3 – 5:00 p.m. – Championship, 3^rd place and 5^th place matches will run simultaneously.

General Information

Directions-

From I-75, going south – take exit 198 (Wales Rd Exit) take a left at the light. Take a right at the second light, which will be Oregon Rd. At the 3^rd light take a left and follow the signs to the SHAC.

· From I-75, going north – take exit 198 (Wales Rd Exit) take a right at the light. Take a right on Oregon Rd. At the 3^rd light take a left and follow the signs to the SHAC.

Schools/Sectionals – (42 schools)

Archbold Sectional: Archbold, Ayersville, Delta, Edgerton, Fairview (Sherwood), Hicksville, Liberty Center, Montpelier, Paulding, Stryker and Tinora. (11)

Elmwood Sectional: Cardinal Stritch, Elmwood, Evergreen, Gibsonburg, Lakota (Kansas), North Baltimore, Northwood, Otsego, Patrick Henry and Swanton. (10)

Huron Sectional: Edison, Genoa, Huron, Lake, Margaretta, Monroeville, St. Joseph Central Catholic, St. Mary’s Central Catholic, Norwalk St. Paul and Woodmore. (10)

Plymouth Sectional: Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Clear Fork, Crestview (Ashland), Galion, New London, Ontario, Plymouth, Seneca East, South Central and Western Reserve (Collins). (11)

Rules/Regulations –

The National Federation Wrestling Rules, as may be modified by the OHSAA Board of Directors, shall be used in all wrestling tournaments sponsored by the OHSAA.
All OHSAA bylaws and sports regulations apply to the conduct of the OHSAA wrestling tournament including the prohibition that, a student who uses anabolic steroids or other performance enhancing drugs is ineligible for interscholastic competition until such time as medical evidence can be presented that the student’s system is free of anabolic steroids or other performance enhancing drugs.

Passes / Admission –

Packets will include assigned number of participant passes (to be used for wrestlers, coaches, school officials) based on the following:

1 competitor – 2 additional passes

2 – 4 competitors – 3 additional passes

5 or more competitors – 4 additional passes

Cheerleaders / Mat Maids – 3 cheerleaders or 3 mat maids, not both, will be admitted free, provided they are under the supervision of a sponsor or cheerleader advisor. On Friday only, one more cheerleader / mat maid than the number of mats being used will be admitted free.
General Admission – Adults - $6.00 per session – Students - $4.00 per session

Media and Photographers –

· All requests for media credentials at sectional/district tournaments shall be directed to the tournament manager. Proper credentials must be presented for admission at pass gate.

Tournament Procedural Information –

5 mats will be used Friday

15 officials – all matches will have an Assistant Official

4 mats will be used in the 1st Session on Saturday

15 officials – all matches will have an Assistant Official

Only wrestlers in uniform and coaches with participation passes will be allowed on the field house floor
Only 2 coaches / team personnel will be permitted mat side – this will be strictly enforced
Wrestlers will be called on-deck to a specific mat and should be ready to wrestle (warm ups off and headgear on) as soon as the match before theirs on the assigned mat is completed.

Scoring / Awards –

6 places will be scored – the top 4 place winners in each weight qualify for the OHSAA State Tournament
Individual medals will be presented to the top 6 place winners in each weight
Team awards will be presented to the District Champion team and Runner-Up

Videotaping –

· All videotaping and photography must be done from the spectator area and shall not interfere with the view of other spectators!

· Videotaping or filming by participating schools:

Videotaping or filming of tournament contests by one or more schools participating in the contest is permitted provided prior arrangements are made with the tournament manager and it is done at the expense of the school involved. A maximum of one individual per school is permitted.

· Videotaping or filming by spectators:

1. Shall be for personal use.

2. Shall not be used for the purpose of scouting or coaching.

3. Shall not interfere with the view of the athletic contest by other spectators.

4. The tournament site shall not permit the use of more than the seating space for which the spectator has paid when seating is needed for paid fans.

5. The tournament site accepts no liability for damage or theft of spectator equipment or injury as a result of privately owned equipment.

6. Equipment will not be permitted in any competition area – only in the spectator seating area.

7. The tournament site will not provide sources of power for video equipment.

8. Violation of this regulation may result in the removal of offender from the premises.

This Northwest District wrestling tournament is under the supervision and sponsorship of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Northwest District Athletic Board, and Owens Community College. The Tournament Manager is Joe Carone, Owens Community College.
