Sydex Reports: Data for Web or Media

Purpose:  To provide data in formats that can be posted directly on a web site or e-mailed to the media. 

Solution:  There are two options for each.  The files need to ASCII (text) files and will usually have the extension of .txt after the file name.

To generate files for posting on a web site, there are two options available.

  1. Generate separate files for each race after scoring the race
  2. Wait until all races are completed and print results for all races in one file. 

To generate files for the newspapers, there are also two options available

  1. Send them the same files generated for the web.
  2. Send them files in Newspaper paragraph format (AP Style).
Sydex Reports:
  1. If generating separate files for each race, click Print Event Results after scoring the race.
    1. For # of Print Columns: 1 per page
    2. For Print Team Composites: Yes
    3. Click Continue
    4. For Printer Settings:
      1. Click Print to file: (Name file appropriately and note the File Name and Location.)
        • Change file names so each file can be identified!
      2. Click View in Windows Notepad
      3. One column
      4. Click Ok
    5. Repeat for the other races.
  2. If generating one file for all races, click Print Meet Results after everything is done.
    1. Use the Meet Results option from the Print/Reports on the Main Menu.
    2. Select the meet.
      1. For # of Print Columns: 1 per page
      2. For Print Team Composites: Yes
      3. Click Print
    3. For Printer Settings:
      1. Click Print to file: (Name file appropriately and note the File Name and Location.)
        • Change file names so each file can be identified!
      2. Click View in Windows Notepad
      3. Click Ok
    4. Repeat for the other genders.
  3. If generating paragraph formatted files for the media, use the Newspaper Rept. option from the Print/Reports on the Main Menu.
    1. Select the meet.
    2. File Name: (Name file appropriately and note the File Name and Location.)
      • Change file names so each file can be identified!
    3. Repeat for the other gender.
  4. Follow E-mail Instructions for attaching files.
  5. Just getting the meet completed and the qualifiers passed on to the the next tournament is the Main Objective!
